A Limerick-based company has garnered national recognition for its groundbreaking initiative designed to spark an early interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among children. The project, which integrates hands-on learning and digital tools, was recently awarded the prestigious Irish Education Innovation Award 2024.
The company, STEM Horizons, focuses on creating engaging educational programs for children aged 5 to 12, bridging the gap between traditional education and future technological demands. Their award-winning initiative, “STEM Explorer,” introduces children to coding, robotics, and engineering concepts through interactive workshops and online resources.
“This award is a testament to the dedication of our team and the enthusiasm of the young learners we aim to inspire,” said STEM Horizons CEO Fiona O’Donnell. “Our goal is to make STEM accessible and exciting for children from all backgrounds, equipping them with critical skills for the future.”
The project has already reached over 10,000 students across Ireland, with plans to expand internationally. The program also prioritizes inclusivity, partnering with schools in underserved areas to ensure equal access to quality STEM education.
