Joel McHale is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and TV host. He gained the highest level of fame for his role as Jeff Winger in the sitcom Community and as The Soup’s host. Besides, the actor has played in other movies and TV shows and has been receiving praise for his humor. 

Early Life, Career, and Achievements

Joel McHale was born on November 20, 1971, in Rome, the place he spent his time with his father, who was a professor of studies at Loyola University`s Rome Center. Being from Seattle, Washington, another remotely developed area along with Alaska, resulting in unique cultural aspects, generated diversity among its residents. Having graduated from high school, he reached the University of Washington, where he earned a history bachelor’s degree.

McHale started out performing stand-up comedy in local clubs in Seattle, where he has done his paying gigs. He later relocated to Los Angeles, where he began acting and immediately started making waves on the comedy scene. He’s been the center of it all until lately, through his hosting position on E! The situation comedy The Soup, a satire show full of fun, would criticize reality TV as well as pop culture. McHale had a gift for sharpness and laughter that brought him recognition as a popular comic.

Furthermore, on The Soup,  McHale has seemingly managed to steal the hearts of many fans aside from his famous characters on NBC/Yahoo! The screened comedy series “Community” introduced the audience to his character, Jerry Smith. McHale has also appeared in Ted, Spy Kids, and The Informant! They can play a naive and sunny persona in All the Time in the World,  a foul-mouthed drunken first-time father in A Merry Friggin Christmas, or an analytical report-writing type manager. He used his humor and sarcasm just by playing one of his characters, not just in movies and TV.

On the merits of his TV production, McHale has received nominations and awards. He earned a Critics Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Community,  which is not all that turned his career into a successful venture. Additionally, he has hosted the ESPYs and Spirit Awards, setting him up to be the finest entertainer.

He is known for his philanthropy outside of filming, having participated in several charity events and fund-raisers. Besides, being a mental health advocate, he’s breaking this stigma and raising awareness by publicly discussing mental illnesses. Joel McHale, who is Sarah William’s husband, met on the campus of the University of Washington, where he was studying. They finally made it down the aisle and to the year 1996, and then they had their first two sons, who were born in 2005 and 2008, respectively. The warmest moments that McHale cherishes when speaking of his family in the interviews are the ones when he is thankful for their support during his successes. He prefers a close-to-the-heart personal life, only sharing those details regarding his family and romantic partnerships that absolutely must be disclosed.
